Global orientation Services is committed to being transparent about how it collects and uses that data and to meeting the data protection obligations. What Information does ­­­Global Orientation collect from the student?

We may hold the belo­­­w listed information:

  • Your personal details such as full name, address, date of birth, email address and telephone number, country where you reside and your nationality.
  • ­­­When applying to universities we also collect information about your passport and relevant visas
  • All relevant educational history and employment, such as high school transcripts, previous degrees of study and any places where you have worked, dates of study and work and dates that exams were taken.
  • Information needed for emergency situations, for example the contact details of a next of kin, for example, a parent or relative
  • Information relating to you or your families financial situation in order to access fees and apply for any scholarships, loans, grants, bursaries or financial support.
  • Information regarding your health and disabilities, so that if needed we can provide university with information to determine suitability and help if the student requires additional support whilst studying.
  • Your preferred gender
  • Information relating to your personal preferences and Interests
  • Any previous criminal convictions or visa refusals to enter the UK which may affect entry to the UK or university.

Why do we collect your personal details/ data

  • Global Orientation Services Ltd collects your information so that we can apply to universities in the UK, on your behalf and assess your suitability for the chosen course as well as discuss with the university any decisions regarding your application/admission to the University.
  • To keep you updated with Global Orientation Services Ltd news and information such as events and key dates to remember for your application.
  • When you give consent, by registering, electronic correspondence or by attending a Gos4uk event, we may share your data with universities in accordance with the Privacy Policies that we have in place with these university partners.
  • Global Orientation Services Ltd may collect your data in various ways, for example, when you register with us, or when you attend one of our events. One of our experienced counsellors will then require your documents as outlined by the university partner.
  • From third parties, for example, from current or previous schools or colleges, universities or current or previous employers who may need to obtain an educational or professional reference about you or a sponsor if you are a sponsored student.

How your data is stored

Your personal data will be stored on our secure company database and can only be accessed by your educational counsellor or by the Director of the company.

All data relating to all applicants is held within the EEA and will not be transferred outside of the EEA. The EEA consists of all EU member states, plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. This means that your personal data will be fully protected under the GDPR or to the equivalent standards by law.

OR

We share your data with external third parties, as detailed below in Part 8, that are based outside of the EEA. The following safeguards are OR are applied to such transfers:

We will only transfer your personal data to countries that the European Commission has deemed to provide an adequate level of personal data protection. More information is available from the European Commission

OR

We use specific contracts with external third parties that are approved by the European Commission for the transfer of personal data to third countries. These contracts ensure the same levels of personal data protection that would apply under the GDPR. More information is available from the European Commission

OR

Where We transfer your data to a third party based in the US and Canada, this may be protected if they are part of the EU-US Privacy Shield. This requires that third party to provide data protection to standards similar to those in Europe. More information is available from the European Commission

Do we share your personal data?

We will not share any of your personal data with any third parties for any purposes, subject to one important exception.

In some limited circumstances, we may be legally required to share certain personal data, which might include yours, if we are OR I am involved in legal proceedings or complying with legal obligations, a court order, or the instructions of a government authority.

OR

We may share your personal data with other companies in our group for our marketing purposes.

We may sometimes contract with the following third parties to supply certain products AND/OR services. These may include payment processing, delivery, and marketing. In some cases, those third parties may require access to some or all of your personal data that we hold on record.

If any of your personal data is required by a third party, as described above, we will take steps to ensure that your personal data is handled safely, securely, and in accordance with your rights, our obligations, and the third party’s obligations under the law.

Who has access to data?

Global Orientation Services Ltd may share your personal data with some departments as part of the application process. This may be:

  • If you are an international applicant from a country that we hold events in we will share data with our Marketing team so they can invite you to additional events/activities during the enrolment period.
  • If you are registered disabled, we may need to share this information with the admissions department from the University
  • If you have applied for University accommodation, then we may need to share your personal details with the accommodation department so that they can book your preferred accommodation.
  • We may need to give certain external organisations access to your personal information. This can be relevant government departments, for example, The Home Office, UK Visa and Immigration, department of Health, Student Loans Company, local authorities to process Council tax and electoral registry registration, The Police and law enforcement, your sponsors (if applicable) and providers of any learning or training placements during your course of

study, accommodation services and your parents/legal guardians, if you are under 18 years of age.

How does Global Orientation Services protect your data?

Global Orientation Services takes the security of your data extremely seriously. It has internal policies and controls that are in place to ensure that your data is not lost, accidentally destroyed, misused or disclosed, and is not accessed except by our employees in the proper performance of their duties.

How long will my data be stored

Global Orientation Services Ltd will keep personal data for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was originally collected. We will normally keep applicant data for one year after the end of the recruitment cycle in which you applied, though if you become a student your data will be kept according to the student records retention schedule.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy policy was last updated on 08/03/2021 and we may occasionally change this policy, if the law changes, or if we change our business in any manner that affects the personal data protection.
